Terms of Service

Welcome to Sensia.

These Terms of Service ("Terms") set out the agreement between you and Sensia Connect Ltd ("Sensia", "we", "us", "our") for your use of our mobile applications, website and related services (together, the "Services").

Please read these Terms carefully before using Sensia. By creating an account, using our Services or clicking "I agree", you agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must not use Sensia.

1. Who we are

2. Eligibility

You may use Sensia only if all of the following are true:

  • You are at least 18 years old.
  • You have the legal capacity to enter a binding contract with us.
  • You are not prohibited from using online dating or similar services under the laws of your country or any other applicable laws.

We may ask you to confirm or prove your age or identity. If we believe you do not meet these requirements, we may suspend or close your account.

3. Your account

To use Sensia, you need to create an account.

You agree to:

  • Provide true, accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Keep your login details confidential.
  • Be responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

If you believe someone else has accessed your account, you must notify us immediately at support@sensia-dating.com.

We reserve the right to:

  • Refuse registration of any username that we consider inappropriate or misleading.
  • Suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or our Community Guidelines.

4. Personal data and privacy

We collect and use your personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy, which explains:

  • What data we collect
  • How we use it
  • How long we keep it
  • Your rights under data protection laws

By using Sensia, you acknowledge that we will handle your personal data in line with our Privacy Policy.

Because Sensia is a dating service, some of the information you choose to provide (for example, sexual orientation or ethnicity) may be considered sensitive under data protection law. We will only process this type of information where you choose to share it and give explicit consent. You can withdraw this consent at any time in Settings.

5. Our Services and features

Sensia is designed to help adults connect intentionally and reduce dating burnout. Our Services may include:

  • Creating and managing a dating profile
  • Viewing and matching with other users
  • Chat and date-planning tools
  • AI-powered suggestions, such as profile tips, match recommendations, message ideas and date ideas
  • Safety, reporting and blocking tools

We may add, modify or remove features from time to time. We do not guarantee that any particular feature will always be available.

6. AI features and suggestions

Sensia uses artificial intelligence ("AI") and automated systems to:

  • Interpret your onboarding answers and preferences
  • Recommend potential matches
  • Suggest ways to describe yourself
  • Provide message ideas, date suggestions and reflective prompts
  • Offer guidance and check-ins around dating and relationships

AI suggestions are not instructions, medical advice, psychological advice or legal advice. They are generated based on patterns in data and may be imperfect or unsuitable for you.

You remain responsible for:

  • Deciding whether to act on any suggestion
  • Your communications and behaviour with other users
  • Any decisions to meet someone offline

Where AI is used in a way that may significantly affect you (for example, ranking potential matches), you have rights under data protection law, including the right to object to certain types of profiling and to request a human review. For more detail, see our AI explanation page and our Privacy Policy.

You can control certain AI features in Settings.

7. User content

7.1 What counts as "User Content"

"User Content" means any information, text, photos, images, audio, video, messages or other materials that you upload, post, send or otherwise make available through the Services, including your profile and messages.

7.2 Your responsibility

You are solely responsible for your User Content. By posting or sending User Content, you confirm that:

  • You own it or have the right to use it;
  • It does not infringe the rights (including privacy and intellectual property rights) of any third party;
  • It complies with these Terms and our Safety & Community Guidelines.

You agree not to post or share User Content that is:

  • Illegal, harmful, threatening, abusive, harassing or defamatory
  • Hateful, discriminatory or inciting violence
  • Explicitly sexual, pornographic or exploitative
  • Involves or depicts anyone under 18 (including "roleplay")
  • Contains private information of others (such as phone numbers or addresses) without their consent
  • Used for scams, fraud or solicitation (including trying to sell products or services)

We may remove or restrict any User Content that we reasonably believe breaches these Terms or applicable law.

7.3 Our licence to use your User Content

You retain the ownership rights in your User Content. However, by using the Services you grant Sensia a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, transferable and sub-licensable licence to:

  • Use, store, host, reproduce, adapt, modify, publish, translate and display your User Content
  • Distribute it as necessary to operate, maintain and improve the Services
  • Make it available to other users as intended by the app (for example, showing your profile and photos to potential matches)

This licence ends when your User Content is deleted from our systems, except where we need to keep copies for legitimate reasons (e.g. legal obligations, safety reports, backups) as described in our Privacy Policy.

We will not sell your User Content to third parties for their own marketing.

8. Acceptable use

You agree that you will not:

  • Use the Services for any purpose that is illegal, harmful, or prohibited by these Terms.
  • Harass, bully, stalk, intimidate, exploit or harm other users, online or offline.
  • Send unsolicited or spam messages, or promote products, services or other apps without our consent.
  • Impersonate any person or entity, or misrepresent your affiliation with someone else.
  • Use the Services to collect information about users in bulk or for data scraping.
  • Reverse engineer, decompile or attempt to extract the source code of the app or any part of the Services.
  • Upload viruses, malware or other malicious code.
  • Use automated tools (such as bots or scripts) to access or interact with the Services.
  • Use the Services in any way that could interfere with, damage or impair our systems or networks.

We may investigate suspected breaches and take appropriate action, which may include warnings, content removal, temporary suspension or permanent account bans.

9. Safety and real-life interactions

Sensia does not conduct criminal background checks on every user and does not guarantee the identity, intentions or behaviour of any user.

You are solely responsible for:

  • Your interactions with other users, both online and offline
  • Taking appropriate precautions when meeting someone in person (for example, meeting in public, telling a friend where you are going, arranging your own transport)

We encourage you to read our Safety Tips and to use the in-app tools to block or report anyone who makes you feel unsafe or uncomfortable.

If you believe you or someone else is in immediate danger, you should contact your local emergency services first.

10. Paid features and subscriptions

If we offer paid features or subscriptions within Sensia, the following will apply:

  • Prices, features included and billing intervals will be clearly shown in the app before you purchase.
  • Purchases made through the Apple App Store or Google Play Store are billed by those platforms; their terms also apply.
  • Some subscriptions may automatically renew unless you cancel them through your App Store / Google Play settings at least 24 hours before the renewal date.
  • We do not control and cannot change how the App Store or Google Play handle refunds; refund requests must usually go through those platforms.

If and when we launch paid features, we may update or expand this section with more detail.

11. Intellectual property

The Services, including all software, designs, text, graphics, logos, icons, images, audio, video and other content (excluding User Content) are owned by or licensed to Sensia and are protected by intellectual property laws.

You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, revocable, non-transferable licence to use the Services for your personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms.

You must not:

  • Copy, modify, distribute, sell or lease any part of the Services;
  • Attempt to extract source code from the app or website;
  • Use our brand or logos without our written permission.

12. Third-party links and services

The Services may contain links to third-party websites, apps or services (for example, map services, event or venue sites, social media, or payment providers).

We do not control these third parties and are not responsible for their content, terms or privacy practices. Using them is at your own risk, and you should review their terms and privacy policies.

13. Service changes, suspension and termination

We may, at any time:

  • Modify or update the Services (for example, to improve features or fix bugs).
  • Suspend access to the Services for maintenance or security reasons.
  • Discontinue parts of the Services (we'll try to give you reasonable notice where possible).

We may suspend or terminate your account, with or without notice, if:

  • You breach these Terms or our other policies.
  • We have reason to believe your use of the Services could harm other users, us, or third parties.
  • We are required to do so by law or by a competent authority.

If your account is terminated:

  • Your right to access and use the Services immediately ends.
  • We may retain certain information where required or permitted by law (for example, for safety, fraud prevention or legal claims), as described in our Privacy Policy.

You may terminate your relationship with us at any time by deleting your account in the app and ceasing to use the Services.

14. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

  • The Services are provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.
  • We do not guarantee that:
    • The Services will be uninterrupted, secure or error-free;
    • You will obtain particular results (for example, specific matches, dates or relationships);
    • Every profile or piece of content is genuine, accurate or safe.
  • We are not responsible for:
    • The conduct, actions or content of other users, whether online or offline;
    • Any decisions you make or actions you take based on information or suggestions received through the Services, including from Sensia AI;
    • Loss or damage resulting from your reliance on any User Content or AI output.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any rights or remedies you have that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

15. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for:

  • Death or personal injury caused by our negligence;
  • Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation;
  • Any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law.

To the fullest extent permitted by law:

  • We shall not be liable for indirect, consequential or special losses, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill or opportunity arising out of or in connection with your use of the Services.
  • Our total aggregate liability to you in respect of any claims relating to the Services, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty or otherwise, shall be limited to the greater of:
    • (a) the total amount (if any) you paid to us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim; or
    • (b) £50.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations of liability, so some of the above may not apply to you.

16. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time, for example when:

  • We add or remove features;
  • We change how we run Sensia;
  • The law or regulatory guidance changes.

When we make material changes, we will:

  • Update the "Last updated" date at the top; and
  • Take reasonable steps to notify you, for example through the app or by email.

If you continue to use the Services after the updated Terms take effect, you agree to be bound by them. If you do not agree, you should stop using the Services and delete your account.

17. Governing law and jurisdiction

These Terms, and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them or the Services, are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

You and we agree that the courts of England and Wales will have non-exclusive jurisdiction in relation to any dispute arising under or in connection with these Terms.
